About Alma Psychotherapy

I’m Suzanna Lopez, a relational psychotherapist and Transactional Analyst in advanced clinical training at the Metanoia Institute in London.

I work with individuals online across the UK and Europe, and in person from my private therapy room in North East Lincolnshire. I also offer psychotherapy for couples, families and groups, and work with organisations to support psychological wellbeing in the workplace.

Background

Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent fifteen years in education, including in senior leadership and headship, followed by work in corporate wellbeing within a large international organisation.

Alongside private practice, I have volunteered with Samaritans and worked therapeutically with survivors of sexual violence at The Blue Door, as well as providing psychotherapy through the UK Counselling Network.

Approach

My practice is relational and grounded in Transactional Analysis. I am interested in how ways of thinking, feeling and relating develop over time, including through earlier relationships and experiences, and how these continue to shape life in the present.

Therapy with me is not directed toward quick solutions. It involves taking the time to understand your internal world more fully, including aspects of experience that may feel unclear, distant or difficult to access.

Working relationally means that attention is given not only to your history, but also to what emerges between us in the therapeutic relationship. This can offer a different kind of understanding and create the conditions for change to develop in a way that is gradual, meaningful and sustainable.

Working With Me

Some of the people I work with are used to managing on their own, or find that relationships can feel strained, unclear, or easier to step back from. Others experience a sense of difference, or hold experiences that have been difficult to process or fully make sense of.

The work is shaped collaboratively, at a pace that feels manageable, with space for both thought and feeling.

Why Alma Psychotherapy?

Alma, meaning nourishment in Latin and soul in Spanish, speaks to psychotherapy as a space of depth and care, where healing, growth and reconnection with your authentic self can gently unfold.

The word psychotherapist comes from 'attendant to the soul', capturing therapy as a shared journey between two people exploring what it truly means to be human.
