Group Therapy

Group therapy offers a different way of working.

Rather than focusing only on your internal world, attention is also given to what happens between you and others in real time.

In the group, patterns that may feel abstract or difficult to access in individual therapy often become more visible.

How you relate, respond, withdraw or connect can be experienced directly, rather than only talked about.

How the group works

Groups meet in a circle, without a fixed agenda.

Each person brings what feels relevant, and the work develops from what emerges between members.

This creates a space where different perspectives, responses, and ways of relating can be explored carefully, within clear boundaries of confidentiality.

Over time, the group itself becomes an important part of the process.

It offers both support and challenge, allowing you to see yourself more clearly and to begin experimenting with new ways of relating.

What this can offer

Group therapy can be particularly helpful if you are interested in:

– understanding recurring relationship patterns
– developing greater awareness of how you come across to others
– navigating closeness, distance, or difficulty in relationships
– finding new ways of responding in situations that feel familiar or stuck

The work often brings past experiences into clearer focus, not as something separate from the present, but as something actively

shaping it.

This creates the possibility for change that feels lived, rather than only understood.

Starting the process

If you are considering joining a group, we begin with an individual session.

This allows us to think together about whether group therapy feels appropriate for you, and to support you in entering the process at a manageable pace.

Structured groups

At different points during the year, I also offer smaller, structured groups focused on specific themes.

These run for a set period and are designed to provide a more contained piece of work.

Practical
